MP Bereza said: "The prosecutor's office will have no objections if the defense on Monday submits the evidence of the violation of the defendant's rights to remit the case to a court of appeals for fresh investigation. It is precisely due to a large number of questions to the investigation that arose today and need to be addressed."

Lutsenko said: "All the parties voiced general opinion that it was the judicial investigation that had numerous problems."

Earlier, the court of Mariupol sentenced the Ukrainian border guard to 13 years in prison for inflicting lethal injuries to a female passenger of a car as he was executing an order to use force to stop the vehicle with intruders at the checkpoint. The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and its veterans expect a review of conviction. The Court of Appeal earlier upheld the verdict. The case was to be heard by the Superior Specialized Court of Ukraine on Nov. 2.
