President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko congratulated Ukrainian fighters on the Day of Highly Mobile Airborne Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Airborne Day), observed on Aug. 2.

Poroshenko wrote on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.

"Congratulations on the Day of Highly Mobile Airborne Forces! Airborne fighters are always where it's more difficult, where courage and endurance, speed and resolute onsurge are needed. There are no obstacles they would not overcome, no enemy they would not defeat.

"Thank you, fighters, for heroism, dedication, and loyalty to military duty," Poroshenko wrote.

On Aug. 2, Ukrainian military celebrate Airborne Day, set by presidential decree in 2012.

Highly Mobile Airborne Troops are a freestanding fighting arm of the Armed Forces of Ukraine aimed for acting in the enemy rear and during special, anti-terrorist, and peacekeeping operations.

Since the beginning of the Donbas war in 2014, Ukraine's troopers have been fighting the Russian aggressor in the east of Ukraine together with other units and detachments of the Ukrainian Army.
