Participants of the rally outside Rinat Akhmetov's residence (One Hyde Park, 100 Knightsbridge London) demanded to verify the legality of his revenues in accordance with the U.K. Bribery Act and the U.K. Counter-Terrorism Act. According to them, if confirmed, appropriate sanctions should be imposed against Akhmetov with the confiscation of his property in favor of Ukraine.
"Akhmetov has mines and factories functioning in the occupied territory of the Donbas. It's impossible for them to work without cooperation with the occupying administration of certain areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Thus, the British secret services have to check whether Akhmetov finances the army of terrorists/invaders with his operating enterprises. Since financing of terrorism, according to British legislation, is a serious crime," the message says.
"Ukrainians in Great Britain call on the Ukrainian diaspora in other countries of the world to join the effort of imposing sanctions on oligarchs plundering Ukraine," the activists add.
