A helicopter landed at the central square of Chernihiv on March 10. It had to pick up the Air Force commander, Colonel-General Serhii Drozdov after solemn events, Censor.NET reports citing Vysokyi Val.
The head of Regional Media Centre of the Ministry of Defense in Chernihiv Vadym Mysnyk commented on the incident.
"The Air Force commander was visiting the Chernihiv region. He arrived at the Pivtsi airfield in the morning. The prospects of the restoration of the airfield are being discussed. Then he participated in celebrations of the 85th anniversary of the establishment of the State Scientific Testing Center of the Armed Forces,'' Mysnyk said.
"According to his rank of the commander, the MI-8 helicopter is regarded as an official transport," the representative said.
He added that all necessary measures had been taken to organize the landing of the helicopter; in particular, Chervona Square was blocked.
