"We are sending the next batch of weapons and military hardware consisting of 141 units manufactured or upgraded by the defense industry to the front today. I am confident that you - our officers and soldiers - will use the weapons and equipment you will receive today with maximum efficiency," Petro Poroshenko said during the ceremony of hardware handover as he paid a working visit to Kharkiv region.
The president stressed that the government would keep demonstrating performance of the state defense industry to the citizens. "Every citizen should see the equipment and weapons which one invests into by paying taxes," he said.
"The new Ukrainian army was born in severe and exhausting battles. Its strength is not only in a powerful patriotic spirit, as it initially was, but also in the weapons and skills, high-level expertise, high morale and experience acquired over these two years," Poroshenko addressed the military.
"The facilities provided to the military include armored personnel carriers, infantry fighting vehicles, mobile command posts, self-propelled howitzers, self-propelled anti-aircraft guns, anti-aircraft missile systems, multiple rocket launchers, main battle tanks, radars, a Mi-8 helicopter, MiG-29 and Su-27 fighter jets, and brand-new all-terrain trucks.
