"Our attention can't be torn away from the crisis just because it's no longer in the news. ... We really need to be aware to be able to support," the British actor noted.

According to UNICEF, one in five schools in the Donbas is damaged or destroyed, 300,000 children need help to continue their education; 580,000 children need urgent aid, and 230,000 were forced to leave their houses.

Bloom visited classes located only three kilometers from the front line.

He met children like 11-year-old Liana, who had been hiding in the basement of her school for almost two weeks, without light and heat, while artillery shelling was damaging their classes. After the challenges in their life, Bloom said, children just want to return to security, schooling, and plan their future.

"Children need education for the future; children need education for the sense of community, for the sense of belonging," the actor stressed.
