A joint briefing of police detachments, National Guard of Ukraine, and other law enforcement agencies involved in the protection of public order during the events planned to be held in May was conducted on Kulykove Pole in Odesa. Over 3,000 law enforcement officers and more than 31 vehicles will be engaged in protection of public order.

Censor.NET reports citing the Public Relations Department of the National Police of Ukraine.

Head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odesa region General Giorgi Lortkipanidze personally held personnel inspection of the detachments involved in the protection of public order in the territory of the city.

The law enforcement officers engaged in protection of public order will be reinforced by 500 soldiers of the National Guard of Ukraine, about 1,000 of special operations police officers from other regions. The police officers will maintain public order in all parts of the city.

Odesa region Police Head Giorgi Lortkipanidze noted during address that the efforts of all agencies and detachments of the Interior Ministry without exception should be directed to provide protection of public order during the events planned to be held in May.

"I ask you to be vigilant while on duty and conscientiously perform your tasks, since the bodily and life integrity of the residents and guests of our city depend on our efforts. We can prevent crimes, avoid destabilization, and ensure the security of citizens only by our joint and concerted actions," Lortkipanidze said.

He also reiterated that entrance to Kulykove Pole on May 2 would be possible only through gateway metal detector in order to provide security.

The law enforcers departed to perform their duties upon completion of the personnel inspection and hearing of detachment commanders' reports on the law enforcers' readiness to fulfill tasks.
