Vyshhorod Mayor Momot, apprehended for extortion of €1 mln in bribe, released from jail on 5 million hryvnia bail. VIDEO

Mayor of Vyshhorod, suspected of bribery, was released from Lukianivske remand prison on bail today, April 19.

Oleksii Momot has been released on bail of 5 million hryvnia ($196,078), Censor.NET reports citing 112 Ukraine.

"I hope that the investigation will be correct and passed to a competent investigative body, to the National Agency on preventing corruption, and it would be unbiased. This case is handled by the prosecution office of the Kyiv region, which, as my defenders noted, has no right to handle it because the amount of bribe that I allegedly demanded is much more than the amount that could be handled by the prosecutor's office of the Kyiv region," Momot commented.
