Policemen who beat people in Kharkiv region will be brought to trial - Herashchenko. VIDEO

A group of people who can hardly be called law enforcement officers severely beat two citizens.

This is stated by MP, Advisor to the Interior Minister Anton Herashchenko on his Facebook page, Censor.NET reports.

"As soon as I saw the video posted in social networks, I immediately contacted Head of the Kharkiv Regional Department of Internal Affairs Anatolii Dmytryiev, and demanded to promptly find these policemen and bring them to trial for abuse of power, for brutal beating of people. The police is given the right to detain offenders and bring them to justice not for them to feel untouchable and torture their own fellow citizens," he wrote.

According to Herashchenko, as long as the law enforcement agencies - police, prosecutor's office, the Security Service - do not demonstrate openness to public punishment of any employee violating the rights of citizens, the society will not believe in the reality of change and reform of the Interior Ministry and other law enforcement agencies.

"I am confident that the investigation into the brutal beating of citizens will be conducted by the Department of Internal Affairs and the prosecutor's office in a short time, and the perpetrators will be brought to justice! In the upcoming days I am expecting for news from Zaporizhia, where an inquiry of the Internal Affairs should decide on the adequacy of the police officer who declined to prevent provocation with St. George ribbons and told pro-Ukrainian activists that he believed that the Ukrainian government is purposefully killing civilians in the Donbas. Non-patriots and people who do not love their motherland have no place in law enforcement agencies, and the civil service in general," he added.
