The protest against Russian invasion of Crimea and Ukraine’s Donbas region was held at the Old Town Square in the heart of Prague (the Czech Republic) on Jan. 21 on the threshold of Ukrainian Unity Day.

As reported by Censor.NET citing Radio Svoboda, the rally participants called to boycott the upcoming 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia to exert more pressure on the Russian Federation over Crimea occupation and waging the hybrid campaign in the Donbas.

"The purpose of the rally is to remind people about what is happening in Ukraine. This is a way to counter lies and tons misinformation being spread in the Czech media, on the Internet, and among the Czech-speaking population. We, those Ukrainians who live here, can help them understand and shed light upon what is really going on," said Kateryna Skrypnyk, the protest organizer.

Ukrainian Unity Day (Den Sobornosti) is an important historical event in Ukraine, which marks the anniversary of the unification of eastern and western Ukraine in 1919. It is celebrated on Jan. 22 every year.
