In his short New Year congratulation to Ukrainians Yanukovych focused on the achievements of last year, and promised that next year will be the year of social justice.

As reported by the press service of the head of state in his congratulatory message Yanukovych said: "The past year has brought the country new achievements. Ukraine held Euro 2012 on a high level, and thus forever wrote its name in the history of European football.

Next 2013 should be a year of development and social justice. All branches of government must ensure the maximum social benefit from the economic growth and legal reforms.

Start of the new Verkhovna Rada and the Government provides opportunities for constructive cooperation of all major political forces for the development of Ukraine.

The main principle of our foreign policy should be to defend the national dignity. A key response to the new challenges of the global economic crisis is the unity of the Ukrainian people.

I am sure we are able to unite for our common bright future. Because we are one people, we are a big country. I sincerely wish every family health and coming of dreams and hopes. Let your homes always live in peace and prosperity!"

For the first time in the history of Ukrain a President addressed the fellow citizens from Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
