Another person was wounded in his abdomen - prominent attorney, volunteer, and former fighter of the 20th Motorized Infantry Battalion Edmond Saakian. Edmond is a friend of Vahner and acted as his attorney in the trial against the criminals who attacked ATO participants in Dnipro on May 9.
Someone of the veterans managed to open retaliate fire from a gun. This resulted in wounding all four of the attackers. As reported, two of them were gravely wounded, the other two received light wounds, their condition is stable.
Edmond Saakian has been taken to Mechnykova hospital, where he is guarded now. Despite a grave wound, his condition is stable, and forecast is positive. He is in emergency room at the moment, but doctors say will be able to testify tomorrow.
The four attackers, who were wounded in the retaliation fire, are also in Mechnykova hospital. Censor.NET 's sources in Dnipro police said the attackers are members of organized crime gangs and had been charged earlier, including for robbery. One of recidivists is the person pictured below wearing white trousers and wounded in his leg.
The names of the attackers have not yet been released [as of the moment of the writing. They were unveiled later, please follow the link – ed.]. It was found out that police know well certain Lakiza guy who was among the attackers.
As established, the reason behind the conflict might be Saakian’s involvement in protection of the rights of a farming business that he was involved in as an attorney. The criminals allegedly wanted to affect this litigation from the other side.
But calling it “gang warfare ” is nonsense. Some media’s versions are absolutely unchecked and incorrect.
Neither Edmond, nor his brother [Eduard, was present at the scene but was not affected – ed.], nor the killed guys have been involved in any kind of covering or gangster activities. They were well known public activists. Judging from the fact than none of the attackers have been killed and they had at least one automatic arms, the attackers must be some criminals.
Police seized a machine gun and two guns from the attackers. Vahner and Ivashchuk, who were killed in the accident, were unarmed, as is known so far.
Censor.NET spoke to Svitlana Saakian, Edmond’s wife. She said she was at home with her kids and knows no details of the incident. She received a call from the license department who asked of the registered weapons belonging to the family. She says she sent them a picture of the guns, all of them are at home. Edmond only had a nonlethal pistol with him, wife said.
Chances are, the gangsters asked for talks but planned a shooting instead.
A source of Censor.NET in Mechnykova hospital sent pictures of the attackers from the reception ward.
