After some grave losses inflicted by fire opened by Ukraine's Spetsnaz and air forces, Iskra unit and militants from Vostok brigade started fleeing. In panic, Russian mercenaries who were escaping by KamAZ trucks, opened fire upon civilians on the streets of Donetsk and other mercenaries from Vostok, Oplot, and the unit of Russian Lieutenant Colonel Igor Bezler.

The gangs started fighting. Two KamAZ trucks with mercenaries were destroyed in Donetsk. Subsequently, the gangs continued the skirmish overnight. Unfortunately, militants were opening fire upon any suspicious person, so they killed and wounded many civilian people. Ukrainian units never entered Donetsk, but remained on their positions in the old terminal.

The number of the militants killed is not known until know. Mercenaries offer mixed up numbers. Iskra unit lost about 50 fighters killed, other units incurred losses as well. The total death toll reaches up to 100 people.
