The demand of prison officials to return the former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko to colony is just a beginning of the October madness.
It seems that on the background of increasing claims to Ukraine from the West (the US Senate Resolution itself is worth a lot!), on the background of doubts as to the fairness of the upcoming elections and the wish of the regime to prove this fairness, they could have left Tymoshenko alone and let her be instead of worsening the situation. At least for a month.
They could also leave the TVi Channel alone until elections - since the situation surrounding it is perceived by the world as an attempt to get rid of the last independent channel in the middle of the election campaign. But no, the head of the State Tax Service Oleksandr Klymenko is making a statement today with new accusations regarding the channel without giving a second thought to the fact that excerpts from his speech will be included in the expert opinions on the unfairness of the elections as a proven fact of the regime's pressure on free speech.
Why are they all going crazy? Because they have no other choice. Since the moment he came to power, Yanukovych made so many steps practically taking the Ukrainian authorities out of the legal framework that now the upcoming elections are the only chance for the President and the Regions to legitimize the creeping accroachment of power.
It seems that they control everything, they do not allow opposition campaigning on TV and in most of the country, they bribe voters with playgrounds and food provisions, they have ceased control over vote counting. They can relax. Tymoshenko will be in hospital for the next month. The journalists can tell the truth about events on social networks instead of even cable TV.
But their fear of possible actions is so big that they increase the pressure disregarding the consequences. They need victory and they do not care about the price and cost even if it means the destruction of all liveing things in our country. It is the Russian government that can relax before elections and Bolotnaya Square (the largest opposition meeting) comes as an unpleasant surprise. It is the loony Belarus "Gaffer" recommends the world to follow the example of Belarus elections - he has nothing to lose. But Viktor Yanukovych and his comrades do have something to lose. And these people are forever ill with Maidan (revolution) illness. It is in their blood - they know that there are people in this country and that sooner or later they may wake up. And that is why they are trying to destroy anything that may encourage it. To hell with the West. The last weeks before the elections will be the climax of this awakening.
