Judge of Poltava court Larysa Holnyk says she was attacked by unidentified individuals. Local police check the information.

She wrote on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.

"Help! I've just survived the assault. I'm near the eternal flame right now," the judge wrote.

She has provided no additional details so far.

Spokesperson for Poltava region police Yurii Sulaiev told Radio Svoboda that the police received report about the assault on a judge of the local court in the park. He said that the crime scene team was working on site establishing all the details of the incident.

The Zhovtnevyi district court of Poltava started hearing case against City Mayor Oleksandr Mamai in May 2014. The subject of the litigation was a conflict of interest caused by the ownership of the land plot Mamai had transferred to his stepdaughter.

Judge Holnyk refused to make a ruling in mayor's favor. The high-profile case came to light after corruption allegations were brought against the mayor and the facts of pressure on Holnyk by presiding judge became public.
