On Sept. 28, two servicemen of the State Border Service of Ukraine were killed in a land mine explosion in Stanytsia Luhanska, the Luhansk region.

The State Border Service published the names on its official website, Censor.NET reports.

The border guards were killed in an explosion of an unknown device as they were on duty next to Illinka village, 1 km from the border with Russia. The military received fatal wounds and died on spot.

Senior warrant officer Dmytro Dede and first sergeant Serhii Huvir both hailed from the Odesa region. They had served in the anti-terrorist operation area (ATO) since fall 2016, and prior to that held posts in the detachments of the South Regional Office of the Border Guard Service.

"The Russian aggression has resulted in parents having lost their sons, wives - their husbands, and orphaned young kids," the report reads.

The investigative group has found that the border patrol unit tripped a booby trap. Fragments of a detonator, wire and a shell have been found.
