As reported by Censor.NET citing State Fiscal Service first deputy chairman Serhii Bilan, this is the best result in an ongoing special operation to counteract the shadow market of alcohol.
"Based on the results of yesterday's searches at the distilleries that are not part of the state enterprise Ukrspirt, which I mentioned earlier, I can report that the tax police officers have achieved the most significant results in a special operation to counteract the shadow market of alcohol. Overall, 1,416 tons of alcohol-containing products worth more than 360 million hryvnias were discovered and seized at distilleries in four regions," he wrote, adding that these facilities are located in the territory of Vinnytsia, Sumy, Ternopil and Kharkiv regions.
According to him, when documenting the work of clandestine distilleries, the tax police frequently reveal the facts of using unaccounted alcohol by offenders as a raw material for the illegal production of vodka.
"That's why it is important for us to track the entire route of supply or illegal production of alcohol," Bilan stressed.
He also added that along with yesterday's searches alcohol-containing liquids worth more than 540 million hryvnias (about $21.09) have already been seized from perpetrators.
