Journalist Mykhailo Maslii wrote on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.
"Once he formulated his life and artistic credo: 'Write as you live, and live as you write.' Borys Oliinyk proved that a poet is responsible for everything that happened prior to him, what happens during his lifetime, and what will happen after him," Maslii wrote.
''Poetry was his first love, journalism was the second, and politics was his occupation in misfortunes,'' he added. "Borys Illich earned love of millions of Ukrainians exactly for his poetry."
Borys Oliinyk was born in Oct. 22, 1935 in the village of Zachepylivka in the Poltava region. He was a prominent Ukrainian poet, translator and politician. He was also a member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the president of the Ukrainian Culture Fund and a member of the Academy of Arts of Ukraine.
