$1.5 billion kept on bank accounts of ex-President Viktor Yanukovych and his cronies that were later attached by the court decision have been transferred to the accounts of the State Treasury Service of Ukraine.

As reported by Censor.NET, Prosecutor General Yurii Lutsenko wrote on Facebook.

"The transfer of $1.5 billion confiscated by the Prosecutor General's Office from the crime ring has been completed! Good workers of Oschadbank performed this operation using their computers," he wrote.

"If it was in cash in 100-dollar bills, it would weigh as much as 15 tons. By way of illustration, it is an African elephant with an elephant calf. Now the ball is on the government and the parliament's ground. We should make Ukrainian citizens feel the positive impact following these Mafia funds' return as soon as this year," Lutsenko said.

The court decision on the confiscation of $1.5 billion in Oschadbank accounts of Ukrainian ex-President Viktor Yanukovych and his cronies in favor of the Ukrainian state budget took effect April 28.
