As reported by Censor.NET citing the city council press center, the dousing took place at Ploshcha Rynok (Market Square) from noon to 4 p.m.
"Wet Monday has a special meaning, because it is first of all a merry holiday. Boys dousing girls has become a long-standing tradition in our country. In recent years, we have made this holiday more civilized so as to prevent hooliganism in the city. The activities take place on Ploshcha Rynok right outside the city council entrance. This is the fourth year in a row," said acting Director of the Mayor's Administration Department of the Lviv City Council Yevhen Boiko.
A palm with taps was installed on the square for everyone interested to be able to get water for battles. The palm also had water pistols hanging on it. The nearby Neptune fountain was sprinkling water in all directions.
On the other side of the square, near the monument to Diana, there was an area for drying and changing clothes, as well as toilets.
"We can't imagine Easter holidays in Lviv without Wet Monday. It invigorates everyone and is an inseparable element of Easter," added Mykola Krupei, the coordinator of Kulturne Misto (Cultural City) campaign.
