According to Shevchenko, no charges were officially brought against the person for shooting dead a robber who got into his house in the Kyiv region's Sukholuchia village and attacked his wife. No preventive measure has been imposed on him as well.
"The information under article 118 of the Criminal Code "use of excessive force in self-defense" was indeed entered into the Unified Registry of pre-trial investigations as it was necessary to do in order to establish all the circumstances by means of investigation. The hunting rifle which was employed against the attacker was impounded for examination.
The house owner's testimony so far confirms that he defended his family and property from the robbers.
As reported, a group of unknown individuals in medical face masks got into the house of entrepreneurs in Sukholuchia village. The trespassers were armed with a handgun, crowbar, knives and cable ties. One of them attacked a 40-year-old woman who was washing dishes in the kitchen of the first floor. He started beating her and demanding to hand over the money and jewelry from the safe.
The 11-year-old daughter of the house owners woke up her father, who was sleeping in a bedroom on the second floor. The man took his hunting rifle and fired a warning shot after which made a shot at the attacker which appeared to be lethal. The rest of perpetrators fled, but were later apprehended by the police.
