The Economic Court of Kyiv region has ruled to reinstate the state ownership of the land in the village of Pidhirtsi, illegally obtained by Ukraine's ex-interior minister.

Censor.NET reports citing the Kyiv region prosecutor's office press service.

It has been established that the executive committee of the Pidhirtsi village council, in violation of land laws and the law on local self-government, took an illegal decision on granting land plots of total area of 0.861 hectares into private ownership.

Given the identified violations, the prosecutor's office has filed a motion to court to invalidate and reverse the decision of the village council as well as to invalidate the land right acts issued by the state.

"The case was repeatedly heard by the courts of various instances. Thanks to the perseverance and principled position of the prosecutor's office, as well as the impartiality and objectivity of the court, the Economic Court of Kyiv region has decided to satisfy the motion, overturn the decision to grant the disputed land into the private ownership of the wife of the former interior minister and reclaim the land from illegal possession in favor of the state," the statement notes.
