As reported by Censor.NET, spokesperson for State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Chernihiv region Oleksandr Ivchenko said on air of 112 Ukraine TV channel.
He specified that a total of seven persons became victims of the incident including one rescued child born in 1999 and a woman born in 1991, who died.
According to preliminary data, two causes of the building collapse are being considered: explosion of gas and unsafe condition of the building. The State Emergency Service Committee will hold a meeting with participation of the house residents today in order to establish the causes.
According to the spot reports on collapsed residential building in the city of Chernihiv published by the State Emergency Service, the rescuers were still clearing the debris and managed to remove about 240 cubic meters of rubble as at 7 a.m. on Dec. 13.
68 people and 27 pieces of equipment were involved in the rescue and salvage operation. They include 44 members of the State Emergency Service with 10 units of equipment, nine employees of the Interior Ministry with three pieces of equipment, four members of the Infrastructure Ministry with three pieces of equipment and 11 employees of the local utility service provider with 11 units of equipment.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine task force is working at the scene.
