Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov said today during an extended meeting of the Military Council of the National Guard of Ukraine with the participation of Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov, Censor.NET reports citing the Interior Ministry's Communications Department.
"We were planning from the very beginning that the National Guard would be a highly mobile, proficient and versatile force capable to successfully carry out missions both at the forefront and in the rear protecting the rule of law and sovereignty of our country. And I am glad to state that the National Guard of Ukraine became exactly that," NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov told the meeting participants.
Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov said: "I am convinced that we will be conducting de-occupation of the Donbas in the next two years with the National Guard playing key role in this process. Our current actions are aimed at preparation to this process. Therefore the military component must be trained in the best possible way. The same applies to the law enforcement component."
According to National Guard Commander Yurii Allerov, the high level of public and government confidence in the National Guard members evidences their high responsibility for the results of their work which also requires them to be as proficient as possible and ready to perform tasks specified by the law.
"Accurately concerted activities of the guardsmen are essential for security and tranquility of our citizens," Allerov said.
The results of the National Guard's activity since the beginning of the year have been assessed at the Military Council meeting.
In addition, one officer was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi by the presidential decree for personal courage he demonstrated while defending sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. 12 soldiers were also decorated by the Interior Minister's decree.
