According to the law enforcement agency, a body of a pensioner with signs of violent death was found at his home in Mohyliv-Podilskyi today. The 76-year-old victim worked as a security guard in one of the local firms. His body was discovered by the colleagues who came in the morning to find out why he didn't show up for work.
The crime scene team established multiple injuries to the head while the subsequent expert examination found that the pensioner was beaten and then strangled.
Two persons, 36 and 47, who had been previously released on parole under the so-called 'Savchenko law' were detained in the course of tracing activities. The bloodstained pensioner's clothes were found at one of the suspects' home.
"The detainees confessed to committing the crime. According to the preliminary findings, the perpetrators infiltrated the pensioner's house through a broken window at night plotting robbery. The house owner, whose attention was attracted by the noise, was beaten and strangled. The attackers searched the house for money and vodka, but found nothing and went home," the police press service reported.
The criminal proceedings under part 1 of the article 115 (premeditated murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine were initiated into the incident. The detainees face up to 15 years in prison. The court is choosing pretrial restriction against them.
