The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) together with the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) has apprehended three persons who demanded money for helping in securing an acquittal.

Censor.NET reports referring the SBU press center.

As noted, two former Interior Ministry employees and a soldier offered a businessman charged with intent to commit murder to favor his release.

They asked $200,000 for assisting in securing an appeals court decision on his acquittal and reversal of the first instance judgement.

The operatives apprehended the extortionists in one of the Kyiv cafes as they were accepting the whole amount from a relative of the businessman. A traumatic gun was seized from one of them.

The house of the fourth member of the criminal group, who represented himself as a prosecutor's office employee, is being currently searched.
