OSCE Mission visits disengagement areas in Donbas sporadically, - MP Herashchenko. PHOTOS

Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Iryna Herashchenko announced that OSCE Mission representatives visit disengagement areas in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) area only sporadically.

She wrote on her Facebook page, Censor.NET reports.

"After withdrawal of troops and hardware in Zolote and Petrivske, the military are equipping a spot for permanent dispositions of OSCE SMM, a permanent monitoring spot. It's important that OSCE was ready to fulfill its obligations in full and monitor the situation in the disengagement area 24/7, as stipulated by the framework decision. So far, the Mission's representatives only arrive here from time to time," she wrote.

According to Herashchenko, over the weekend Ukrainian and foreign reporters visited Petrivske, Zolote, and Stanytsia Luhanska to see the results of the disengagement.

Most importantly, Herashchenko said, is that the disengagement areas have become quieter and no truce breaches are recorded there.

"Regarding Stanytsia Luhanska, the military there should abide by the schedule and start the withdrawal after a week of silence. The military hope to be able to withdraw in upcoming days. As for the worries of the locals, it's obvious that as long as more than 40,000 illegally armed Russian mercenaries are in the occupied territories, the threat of provocations, shelling and offensive remains along the entire demarcation line - both in the disengagement and withdrawal towns.

"The task of the authorities and the Minsk group is to fight to restore control over the border and for full withdrawal of foreign mercenaries and weapon behind the border, but this is a difficult and long process. Regarding the local authorities, they have to explain, not intimidate local people... I want to thank reporters who personally came to see the importance of the humanitarian activities in Petrivske, Zolote, and Stanytsia Luhanska.

"After the disengagement, we will insist in Minsk on opening a check point in Zolote and restoration of the bridge in Stanytsia," Herashchenko added.
