Head of the Donetsk regional civil-military administration Pavlo Zhebrivskyi wrote on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.
"A big surprise! Patriarch Filaret of the UOC-KP has visited us tonight... The almost 88-year-old Patriarch has arrived at the front line to support his flock. It increases the respect for this extraordinary person. The Patriarch visited the military and met with the commander of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) forces. He blessed the servicemen in the holy cause of the protection of Ukraine," Zhebrivskyi wrote.
According to him, Filaret was keenly interested in the situation in the Donbas, as well as in the progress in restoration of the destroyed region.
"The Patriarch was especially interested in awakening of truly Ukrainian spirit and spirituality in the the Donetsk region. When I told His Holiness about our project to create a network of Ukrainian-language schools in the front line communities, his eyes sparkled with joy, because the village of Blahodatne (Amvrosiivka area), Patriarch's small homeland, is located on the terrorist-held territory," the governor said.
In conclusion, the Patriarch blessed those who restore the Donetsk region: "Work with inspiration! Go ahead, do not be discouraged no matter what! The victory will be ours because the truth and God are with us!"
