This was announced by Prosecutor General Yurii Lutsenko on his Facebook page, Censor.NET reports.
"We had been preparing this operation for two months. 150 employees of PGO and Alfa SBU fighters conducted more than 120 searches in Kharkiv yesterday. The purpose was to seize documents to form the base for the case on misappropriation of 650 hectares of Kharkiv land organized by criminal ring of Dobkin and Kernes (Kharkiv top officials - ed.).
"The old song of 'political persecution' will not help them. Stealing 4 billion hryvnia ($160M - ed.) and seating one's relatives, friends, useful politicians and law enforcers on elite lands is a crime. It will be punished," Lutsenko said.
It was reported on Sept. 15 about searches of premises belonging to Kharkiv mayor Hennadii Kernes and mother of Opposition Bloc MP Mykhailo Dobkin, as well as to other top officials of Kharkiv. Prosecutor General Yurill Lutsenko later said he was set to submit several motions to the Verkhovna Rada on lifting parliamentary immunity of deputies involved in the case against Kharkiv Mayor Hennadii Kernes.
