Censor.NET reports referring to the Ministry of Defense press service.
"The national flag was hoisted above each of the military positions along the entire demarcation line. The right to solemnly raise Ukraine's national flag was granted to the best soldiers, including Col. Yevhen Sydorenko and Lt. Col. Vasyl Koval," the press service noted.
As hostilities in the vicinity of Ilovaisk were raging after the invasion of Russian troops in August 2014, Col. Yevhen Sydorenko took control of a captured Russian T-72B-3 battle tank and together with comrades fought an uphill battle with invaders, having destroyed several enemy combat vehicles. Being in the forefront, Sydorenko fought the way through the encirclement for Ukrainian troops.
Lt. Col. Vasyl Koval was the commander of one of the units that were the first to enter Avdiivka, Krasnohorivka and Marinka.
It should be mentioned that the soldiers who perform combat missions in the ATO area in eastern Ukraine took active part in the solemn ritual of raising Ukraine's symbol of independence and freedom in Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Toretske.
