The United States has presented Ukraine with a batch of drones worth $12 million.

Censor.NET reports citing the statement by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"Ukraine has received a batch of drones from the United States. Pursuant to agreements reached earlier, the next shipment of the international technical assistance provided by Ukraine's strategic partner - the United States of America - arrived in Kyiv today, July 27, 2016. The U.S. Department of Defense supplied considerable number of the advanced Raven RQ-11B UAV systems worth more than $12 million to the Armed Forces of Ukraine under the European Reassurance Initiative (ERI)," the agency informed.

"It is noteworthy that U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Pyatt has recently reiterated the U.S. commitment to provide further security and defense aid to Ukraine. Moreover, the assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine is one of the U.S. foreign policy medium and long term priorities. The Armed Forces of Ukraine really appreciate the U.S. partners' assistance in upgrading the Ukrainian Army's operational capability," the General Staff stressed.

The agency also noted that provided aid was non-lethal as the UAVs were not equipped with weapons. The RQ-11 Raven is a lightweight (less than two kilograms) reconnaissance drone equipped with conventional or night observation camera. This type of drones is featured by easy takeoff and ability to land on almost any surface. Its flight range is 10 kilometers.
