Poroshenko congratulated Suprun on the anniversary of obtaining Ukrainian citizenship and offered her to engage in the improvement of Ukraine's healthcare system as a ministry official.
"Today, the situation around the healthcare system is on a par with the protection of national security," the president said.
According to him, he has addressed the government with a request to appoint Suprun deputy minister of health.
"I'm counting on you. We have already paid attention to military healthcare, and our warriors received medicines, first aid kits, and medical care. However, this task is much more ambitious," the head of state noted.
The top priority, Poroshenko notes, is to elaborate and approve the strategy of a healthcare reform. He asked Suprun to work out proposals together with the government and parliament and submit them for public consideration. The president also said that the draft strategy of the healthcare reform will be considered during the upcoming NSDC session.
Poroshenko called the corruption in healthcare system the main challenge. "This sector has always been a symbol of corruption: in pharmacology, medical services, purchase of medical equipment and construction of new hospitals. Transparent and effective work will increase social trust," he remarked.
In turn, Ulana Suprun noted: "If there is a political will, everything will work out. I think we will manage to overcome a lot of problems with your support."
She agreed with the necessity of rapid elaboration and adoption of the strategy of the healthcare reform as well as its presentation to the society, so that "people understand why the system is changing and have no fear of changes."
