Ukraine's deputy minister of health has been exposed as a person involved in bribery and extortion.

According to Kyiv city prosecutor Roman Hovda, a lengthy anti-corruption operation to expose systematic bribery involving a senior official of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine finished last night, Censor.NET reports citing Kyiv prosecutor's office press service.

It has been established that the official has repeatedly extorted money from medical practitioners for allowing them to properly carry out their responsibilities, in particular to do surgeries in Oleksandrivska hospital in Kyiv.

The deputy minister and his accomplice have been detained pursuant to the article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine on suspicion of committing a criminal offense under part 4, article 368 (bribery of public servant) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
