NABU released details of investigation into "Onyshchenko's gas scheme". INFOGRAPHICS (in Ukrainian)

From the very start of investigation into the so-called "Onyshchenko's gas scheme", the NABU has been faced with resistance both during investigative activities and judicial hearings.

Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine Artem Sytnyk said, Censor.NET reports referring to NABU press service.

"Given these facts as well as sufficient evidence, I'm convinced the Verkhovna Rada will decide positively and support the request [to strip Onyshchenko of parliamentary immunity - ed.] of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) in full," Sytnyk noted.

Earlier, June 29, the Procedural Committee of the Verkhovna Rada granted a motion by the SAP, approved by the PGO, on bringing people's deputy Oleksandr Onyshchenko to criminal liability, including his apprehension and arrest. At the same time, the parliament should vote separately on each of the above points.

The NABU and the SAP have exposed persons involved in an embezzlement scheme implemented during the extraction and sale of natural gas under agreements on cooperation with Ukrhasvydobuvannia PJSC [state gas producing company - ed.], which resulted in a 3 billion hryvnia (approx. $120.646 million) loss suffered by the state. People's deputy Oleksandr Onyshchenko is reported to be behind the scheme.
