Head of the National Police in the Donetsk region Viacheslav Abroskin wrote on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.
"There is a multi-storey building on the outskirts of Krasnohorivka. According to locals, militants of the so-called "DPR" shelled it for the first time on July 13, 2014. The townspeople compare it with the Brest Fortress. However, the famous defense lasted for 32 days, while the residents of Krasnohorivka, especially those who live next to this building, have been under fire for 710 days now.
"Today, I examined the effects of "DPR" militants' most recent attack on the town. Shells virtually hit the downtown of Krasnohorivka, a multi-storey residential building on Suvorova Street, where people continue living, with a school and a kindergarten operating nearby," he wrote.
"A group of 10 Donetsk region police officers stays in the town. They live and work in the same room. The basement of a building has been refurbished for having a rest. In addition to the maintenance of public order, they provide assistance to local residents, register the consequences of attacks, and help removing debris," Abroskin noted.
"I spoke with a local. About 3,000 people continue living in Krasnohorivka. The town's enterprises don't work. People survive on social payments, humanitarian assistance, and sporadic earnings. Sentiments are different. But there is only one common wish - to see shelling end and peace set in," he concluded.
