The head of state expressed deep discontent with the resolution of the French Senate on gradual mitigation of the EU sanctions adopted on June 8.
The president noted that the given decision didn't meet the values of the EU and Ukraine. He emphasized that the global community must be decisive and united in its reaction to Russia's disregard for the international law.
President of the Senate Gerard Larcher said that the resolution was only advisory and it didn't provide for the abolition of sanctions against Russia until full implementation of the Minsk agreements.
Petro Poroshenko also praised the extension of sanctions against Russia by the EU in response to the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol.
The president is hopeful that France will further assist Ukraine on the track of reforms and support the decision on the provision of the visa-free regime for Ukrainians shortly.
Petro Poroshenko invited president of the Senate to visit Ukraine at his convenience.
