The launch of patrol police in Mariupol finished the first stage of law enforcement agencies reform in Ukraine. Mariupol police is headed by anti-terrorist operation (ATO) participant, "Cyborg" Vitalii Horkun.

This was announced by Interior Minister Arsen Avakov on his Facebook page, Censor.NET informs.

Avakov told more details about the Mariupol police.

"The contest in Mariupol was high as usual - about 17 persons per one post. We received 3,139 submissions and were selecting candidates really thoroughly, given the special level responsibility of this unit of the patrol police (Mariupol is located not far from the front line in the southeast of Ukraine - ed.).

"The new police officers' average age is 27 years. There are 38 females among them. 128 officers have a university degree. Five of them participated in combat activities. The Mariupol police unit is headed by Donetsk airport defender Vitalii Horkun," the minister stressed.

The ministry's next step is a strategic reform of the State Emergency Service. State Border Service employees recently got higher salaries with support of the Cabinet, Avakov said. He summed up that the ministry will continue its reforms step by step.
