The exercise took place in one of the Mykolaiv region's training grounds with the participation of 450 paratroopers and about 70 pieces of military equipment, Censor.NET reports referring to MoD press service.
The parachuting was done simultaneously from three AN-26 transport planes and split in several stages. Some 300 servicemen were taken to dropping zones.
After reaching the ground, the paratroopers immediately embarked APCs (BTR-80) which brought them to a defined object. The attack on the facility took place under cover of unit's artillery fire. The "enemy" was represented by Brigade's scouts who tried to repel the attack. After completing an unexpected maneuver, the paratroopers seized the object.
After the exercise, the Brigade's commander said that his soldiers had taken part in such an event for the first time in many years.
"This kind of mass dropping was a test for both pilots and paratroopers. I am glad that we all coped with this difficult task," the officer.
