The ceremony was attended by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, President of the Football Federation of Ukraine (FFU) Andrii Pavelko, FFU honorary president and UEFA vice-president Hryhorii Surkis, and Ukraine's government leaders. A few hundred fans also came to the square.
Each player on stage was accompanied by a storm of applause. The fans chanted "Glory to Ukraine!"
The ceremony began with the anthem performed by Ukrainian singer Ruslana. Then Ruslana and President Poroshenko handed the players flags from the ATO participants and wished them confidence, success and lots of victories.

"We will all stick to our screens, and some of us will come to France to support our team. Our players will always wait for your energy to show an excellent game. Our coaching staff is looking forward to the highest achievements today more than ever. All we expect from our players is beautiful games and victories," FFU president Pavelko said from the scene.
ATO hero Yevhen Mezhevikin also spoke to the audience. He said that the victory of the national team and Ukrainian clubs give strength and raise morale at the front.
"We are looking forward to your good results. We expect decent games from you and are proud to say that both the soldiers and the civilians are rooting for you. We are going to keep our fingers crossed for you. Glory to Ukraine," he said.
After the ceremony, the bus with the players departed to Boryspil airport for the team to reach the first training camp in Italy.
