SBU nabs village council chairman in Sumy region while receiving UAH 2.6 million in bribe. PHOTOS

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in conjunction with the Military Prosecutor's Office caught chairman of one of the village councils in the Sumy region as he was receiving major bribe.

Censor.NET reports citing the SBU press service.

The person extorted a bribe from a businessman who intended to rent a land plot of 500 hectares. The amount of bribe was based on $200 per hectare. The law enforcers detained the chairman of the village council when he was receiving 2.6 million hryvnia (about $100,000) a bribe.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated under Part 3 of the Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
