Major Ruslan Iskuzhenov is the "chief of staff - deputy commander of the 1st Infantry Battalion of the 3rd Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade" (Horlivka) of the "1st Army Corps" (Donetsk) of the Center of Territorial Troops (Novocherkassk, Russia) of the Southern Military District (Rostov-on-Don ) of the Armed forces of the Russian Federation. In Ukraine, he uses the cover name Uspanov. Iskuzhenov was born in the Omsk oblast on Jan. 12, 1984. He studied in the Omsk Cadet Corps and graduated from the Novosibirsk Higher Military Command School in 2007.
Iskuzhenov was sent to Donbas according to the order of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation №0019 from Jan. 22, 2015. Since graduating from college, he served as commander of a motorized infantry platoon, an infantry company, as well as chief of staff and commander of the Motorized Infantry Battalion of the 18th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade.
"We pay special attention that the 18th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 58th Army of the Southern Military District of the Armed Forces is a military force which participates regularly in the so-called counter-terrorist operation in Chechnya and Dagestan," the Ministry stressed.

Another officer of the Russian Armed Forces, who was sent on a mission to Ukraine, also served in the 18th Separate Motorized Rifle brigade. He is Colonel Konstantin Kanaplyanik. He was sent to the Donbas according to the order of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation №0049 from Feb. 22, 2015. Previously, he was the deputy commander for air training of a separate battalion of the 18th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade. Currently, he holds the post of the commander of the "Separate Reconnaissance Battalion" (Donetsk) of the "1st Army Corps" (Donetsk).
