 Defense Minister Poltorak presents new commander of Pivden Operational Command of Ground Forces of Ukraine's Army Hryshchenko. PHOTOS

On April 11, Defense Minister of Ukraine General Stepan Poltorak presented new commander of Pivden Operational Command of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Army Major General Andrii Hryshchenko to the personnel of the operational command. Prior to his appointment, Hryshchenko was deputy commander of Pivnich Operational Command.

As reported by Censor.NET citing the press service of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine, the ceremony took place in Odesa garrison.

Major General Andrii Hryshchenko has been active since the first days of Russian aggression, according to Poltorak. Hryshchenko commanded the 72nd separate mechanized brigade in its successful fulfillment of combat tasks.

Poltorak has defined major tasks for the new commander of Pivden Operational Command, which include optimization of commanding system, implementation of changes to drilling system, and providing better supply system. The minister of defense stressed the necessity to "turn face to the personnel, for people are the biggest value we have."
