"I think that we will now start working actively towards lifting visa restrictions. We raise the issue of the visa regime liberalization for holders of ordinary passports today, which will intensify the exchange," the president said speaking with the Ukrainian community in Tokyo on Wednesday.
The president also added that it was necessary to boost the study of the Japanese language in Ukrainian universities and send students for training in Japan.
"We see great prospects of relations between the countries. I can definitely say that we have never had such strong relations in the entire history of independent Ukraine as we have now," Poroshenko said.
The president later thanked the Ukrainian community in Japan in his statement on Facebook for their warm welcome.
