The law enforcement officers have documented evidence of systematic extortion of bribes for dismissal of criminal proceedings at the stage of pretrial investigation, Censor.NET reports citing the SBU press center.
The members of the security agencies established identities of 11 Ternopil law enforcement officers involved in the corrupt practices.
Over 40 searches have been carried out within the criminal proceedings initiated by Part 3 of the Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. In particular, $50,000 have been seized from the office of the Deputy Prosecutor of the Ternopil region; grenades and rounds of various calibers were found at the place of residence of Police Main Directorate Deputy Chief.
Urgent measures of investigation to identify and bring to justice all local law enforcers involved in corrupt practices are underway.
