"Today, our country is honoring the memory of our heroes, who gave their lives defending the Donetsk airport, for the Motherland, for the future. One of the killed 'Cyborgs' went to this school. I thank and bow to parents of Andrii, who had raised the hero. Let this plaque always remind us and the next generations about patriotism, honor, dignity, and the heroic deed of the defenders, so that our kids learn to love and respect out Motherland," Andriievskyi said in his speech.
The MP also noted that 17 families from the Solomianskyi district of Kyiv have buried their loved ones killed in the war.
Andrii Havryliuk was born in Kyiv on Feb. 3, 1980. He defended Pisky, Vodiane, and Prokofiyev airport in Donetsk since November 2014. He was killed on Jan. 21, 2015 in the airport.
Senior Sergeant Havryliuk has been awarded Order of Valor of the III degree and a "For defense of the Donetsk airport" badge (both posthumously).
