The officers of the Security Service of Ukraine in conjunction with border guards have detained one of the LPR terrorist leaders, "the first deputy head of Perevalsk district administration" at the Hoptivka border crossing point in the Kharkiv region Jan. 5.

Censor.NET reports citing the press center of the SBU.

It is noted that the detainee was retired Ukrainian law enforcement officer, who was holding senior position in the "government body" of the terrorists' "Luhansk People's Republic" having concluded an agreement with the leaders of this organization.

"The "official" was initially subordinate to leader of Cossack gang Kozitsyn and later "LPR" leader Igor Plotnitsky. It did not prevent him from receiving pension in Ukraine under forged documents of a displaced person," the statement reads.

The detainee was served notice of suspicion under Part 1 of the Article 258-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which establishes criminal liability for participation in a terrorist organization. The person was placed into custody.

In addition, the officers of the SBU Counterintelligence Directorate in conjunction with the police detained a saboteur, who tried to enter the territory controlled by the Ukrainian government in Stanytsia Luhanska district on the night of Jan. 6.

"The detainee admitted that he had joined the "LPR" terrorists being solely motivated by profit. He underwent training provided by the Russian career servicemen in a camp for saboteurs," the SBU reported.
