In response to journalists' requests the Bureau has demonstrated samples of the battle suits, footwear, and other outfit possessing features and quality unique and uncontested in Ukraine, which were purchased for the SOF Directorate.
"One of the groups on Facebook and then the media has spread the list of expenses for the purchase of uniforms, which are allegedly intended for Anti-Corruption Bureau detectives. I want to stress that the mentioned uniforms and footwear were purchased for the SOF Directorate operatives. I strongly disagree with the estimations of certain users of the social networks that the uniforms for the Special Operations Forces could have been purchased at a lower price. The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine is the only agency in the world, which has a special operations detachment created to detain persons suspected of committing corruption offenses, protect witnesses and members of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau. A commando must be ready for any weather conditions to perform these functions. So it was critical for us to purchase high-quality uniforms and footwear," Sytnyk said.
In turn, Deputy Director of the Bureau Anatolii Novak said: "We opted for '5.11' company. Those, who have got experience of running the special operations, know that it is a good balance of price, performance, and ease of use. The same suits are used by the National Guard and the police."
"I remind that the average salary of the rank and file personnel of the SOF Directorate is 5,500 hryvnia (about $220). I am convinced that the guys deserve decent working conditions and adequate provision of material needs," Novak said.
