Kyiv City State Administration Deputy Chairman Petro Pantielieiev said that the preliminary cause of the displacement of the supporting wall near the apartment house was ground water, but the reason for that was unclear. The land surveyors are currently working at the scene as well as builders, who evaluate the damage.

The evacuation of 83 residents of 38 apartments of this house is underway. The rescuers assist those who have been unable to leave the house on their own. All the evacuees are forwarded to the nearest local school. The developer of the house is unknown since the relevant documents have been lost.
