"In the course of the war for independence, we have formed a powerful corps of medium-rank commanders of the Armed Forces. The Ukrainian soldiers, society and government trust in them and the enemy is afraid of them," the president emphasized.
"I want these commanders to get to the high posts of the Defense Ministry and the General Staff after the completion of their duties on the frontline," the president said. According to him, most of them will be promoted and will "complete the formation of a new army that will meet the NATO standards and have a tremendous combat experience gained in the fight against the Russian aggressor".
In his speech, commander of the 56th separate mechanized brigade, Colonel Andrii Melnyk stressed: "In these long 18 months, we all understood that nothing is gained as hard as freedom".
Commander of the 91st separate regiment for operational support Oleksandr Yakovets added that "the Armed Forces have made a huge stride towards the formation of the Ukrainian troops of the future".
The president honored the memory of the fallen graduates of the university and laid flowers to the memorial stele of the Defender of Ukraine established in the university on the occasion of the Day of Defender of Ukraine.
