In the course of the operation, it has been established that the workshop operated in the village of Antopil at a maintenance station. The production capabilities made it possible to process significant amounts of amber, with proper permits for processing the precious stone and making jewelry missing.
The workshop processed illegally mined raw amber, its origin not being legally documented. During searches, law enforcers confiscated 42 processing machines, more than 100 kilos of raw amber worth more than UAH 11.5 mln (about $542,050), five kilos of finished products, as well as a dashboard camera and computer equipment. The total amount of seized items makes more than UAH 15.3 mln (about $721,170).
The confiscated stones have been sent for examination, investigative actions being carried out to establish the origin of amber and those responsible for illicit trafficking.
